Glossary of terms:
- Book Blogger -- A book blogger is someone who receives copies of books in exchange for an honest review, which they typically post to their blog. Besides reviews, these book blogs may also include book giveaways and promotions for new releases.
- Book review -- Someone's opinion of a book. These can be written professionally, such as the New York Times Book Review, or they can written by everyday readers. Book reviews can be anywhere from a few words to a few paragraphs, and are commonly posted on websites like Amazon or Goodreads.
- Content editor -- a type of editor that focuses on "big-picture" edits, like plot holes, character inconsistencies, and pacing and organization problems.
- Copy editor -- a type of editor that focuses on smaller, secondary edits, like punctuation and grammar.
- eBook -- a digital copy of a book, typically available to read on a Kindle, Nook, iPad, or other electronic device.
- Goodreads -- a website that allows you to track the books you've read. Here you can group books into lists, receive recommendations, write reviews, and become friends with other avid readers.
- Manuscript -- the original text of an author's work, handwritten or typed, that is submitted to a publisher. (A manuscript is basically what you call a novel or book before it's been published.)
- Press Releases -- A brief written report or article that companies send out to announce a new product, service, development, or other newsworthy information.
- Royalty shares -- I'm still a little fuzzy on the details here, but it's basically how the profits of something are shared between different entities, like the author and the publisher.
